Levy Internship Fund - Spring 2024

The Levy Internship Fund provides eligible Opportunity Vanderbilt Students with $6000 for un(der) paid summer internships. Eligible applicants can apply for summer internship funds during either the fall or spring semesters. Funding can be used for housing costs, meals, transportation costs (to/from internship, commuter travel, etc.), and professional attire. 

Eligibility Criteria:

  • Opportunity Vanderbilt Student
  • First-year students through juniors are eligible to apply.
  • Eligible internships include a minimum of 8-week unpaid and underpaid summer internship experiences.
    • The Levy Internship Fund requires that your summer experience must be classified as an internship opportunity by the issuing employer. If your research opportunity does not meet this classification, you won't be eligible for funding.
  • VU Undergraduates may only receive the Levy Internship Fund once.

Funds are disbursed in early June for summer internships. Please note the required date by which you need to supply your internship acceptance offer for the spring application cycle:  March 20th .

Spring Cycle:

  • Application period: January 29, 2024 - March 10, 2024
  • Application review: March 11, 2024 – March 24, 2024
  • Internship Acceptance Letter Submission: March 20, 2024
    • If you did not have your offer letter by the application deadline, please send it to ccfinancialsupport@vanderbilt.edu - Subject line "Spring 2024 - Levy Offer Letter" by 3/20.
  • Award notification: Week of  March 25, 2024

Students receiving a Levy Internship Fund award will be required to participate in a pre/post-workshop session to maximize their internship experience.

Levy Pre-Requisite Workshop Offerings (must only attend one):

  • Pre-Requisite Workshop 1 | Monday, April 1st at 1:00 - 1:30 pm
  • Pre-Requisite Workshop 2 | Tuesday, April 2nd at 11:30 am - 12:00 pm
  • Pre-Requisite Workshop 3 | Thursday, April 4th at 12:00 - 12:30 pm

How to Apply:

Please submit the following materials for your application:

  1. Resume
  2. Statement: Brief description (1 pg. max) of internship experience and why the internship will be helpful to your career empowerment journey*
  3. Budget of how funds will be used*
  4. Confirmation/Offer letter of internship (Pending availability)
    • Please submit under “Other” - if you do not have an offer letter when submitting your application, please submit a Word document that says, “I do not have a confirmation/offer letter at this moment.”

*Please combine #2 and #3 in ONE document and submit under Cover Letter.

Grading Rubric Criteria:

In order to maximize your application, review the criteria listed below, as these will be the focal points for assessment by the review committee:

  1. Strength of Resume
  2. Strength of Budget: Comprehensive and Thorough
  3. Strength of Statement: Answered the What and Why

We will also include two bonus criteria that will be an added point each:

  1. Proactive Internship Search - Started steps to obtain internship (no point awarded for an idea or connection, but rather if the applicant has shown proactivity – i.e. Submitted applications, started/completed interview process, etc.)
  2. Career Center Engagement - The applicant has interacted with the Career Center in some capacity (coaching appointments, drop-ins, career fair, event, etc.)
