Atlanta Fortune 500 Trek

The Atlanta Fortune 500 Trek is an exciting opportunity to experience Atlanta with peers and gain industry knowledge from alumni and professionals.  Students will engage with three Fortune 500 companies to maximize learning opportunities and explore career pathways. This trek is open to all Vanderbilt undergraduate students interested in transportation/supply, business, engineering, and data. All selected students will participate in an immersive on-site Atlanta trek over Fall Break (October 19-20).

How will participation develop the students professionally?

  • Students will receive 1:1 guidance on their internship search and application materials from the Career Center’s expert career coaches.
  • Students will receive guidance and resources on the treks target industries and professional development/skill-building.
  • Students can actively take part in employer workshops highlighting the significance of networking, navigating life and career in Atlanta after college, and outlining key steps for success for students entering the industry.

 

If selected, students are required to participate in: 

Pre-Trek Workshop 1: Tuesday, October 10th (11:30 am – 12:00 pm CT) Virtual

Pre-Trek Workshop 2: Wednesday, October 11th (3:00 pm – 3:30 pm CT) Virtual

(Must only attend one out of the two pre-trek workshop sessions offered.)

Atlanta Trek: Thursday, October 19th to Friday, October 20th in Atlanta, GA

Post-Trek Workshop: Date/Time TBD

 

Students will explore and understand possible career paths from university partners like Coca-Cola, Genuine Parts, and more! Students should expect site visits and skill-based sessions with VU alums and recruiters during the trek.

 

Important:  Travel & Accommodations Fully Funded

We are thrilled to announce full funding support for this trek. This means that your travel and hotel accommodation expenses will be covered. We plan to rent a charter bus/van to travel from campus to Atlanta (a short four-and-a-half-hour drive).

Release of Liability  

I, the undersigned, a student at Vanderbilt University (“Vanderbilt”), desire to voluntarily participate in the following activity: Atlanta Fortune 500 Trek (hereinafter “activity,” including any associated travel). 

I understand that Vanderbilt does not guarantee my safety during participation in the activity and that there are inherent risks of property damage and personal injury to myself and others.  

 By voluntarily participating in this activity, I knowingly and voluntarily assume all risks related to personal injury or property damage. I understand that the rules and regulations of the activity and Vanderbilt are designed for the safety and protection of all participants, and I hereby agree to abide by these rules and regulations. 

I release Vanderbilt, its students, volunteers, and staff (collectively referred to as “Parties”) from any responsibility for my acts or the acts of others while participating in this activity, and I agree to hold Parties harmless from any third-party claim based on that participation. 

Furthermore, in consideration of Vanderbilt offering this opportunity for me to participate in this activity, I do agree to and hereby do release from fault, discharge, hold forever harmless and indemnify the Parties and their trustees, agents, officers, employees, representatives, and servants against loss (including reasonable attorneys’ fees), from any and all claims, demands, rights, or causes of action of any kind or nature (except to the extent of the gross negligence or willful misconduct of the Parties) that may hereafter at any time be made or brought by me, or by any other person having a legal interest therein, arising from or by reason of any and all known or unknown, foreseen and unforeseen bodily or personal injuries, damages to property and consequences thereof which may be sustained by me as a consequence of any accident or injuries in connection with the event. 

If I should suffer an injury or illness while participating in this activity, or any other activity associated with the event, I authorize the Parties of Vanderbilt to use their discretion for transport to a health care facility and I hereby take full legal and financial responsibility for that action. 

I further grant and convey unto Vanderbilt all right, title and interest in any and to all photographic images and video or audio recordings and all copies thereto made by Vanderbilt during my participation in the activity, including but not limited to, any royalties, proceeds or other benefits derived from such photographs or records.
